Key things to know before having new flooring professionally fitted in your home
Our Fitting Terms & Conditions
Having lovely new flooring in your house is both exciting and rewarding. Preparation is the key to getting the end result you desire.
Making sure you get the measurements right is crucial so it is worth having Martin or one of his team assess the area to be fitted if the area is particularly large or an irregular shape. Hall stairs and landings are best measured professionally as these can be a tricky area to work out. We aim to have as minimal waste as possible so we estimate and plan your flooring very carefully.
- All old flooring must be removed and disposed of prior to fitting ( using the correct waste disposal method for your local council) and it’s a good idea to check the condition of the floor underneath particularly if you are having vinyl or laminate.
- Clear all areas where the floor is to be fitted. There is no way around this, the room has to be cleared of its contents. This is a great opportunity to de-clutter, spring clean or even give the room a makeover.
- If you are redecorating a room or area in your house or business, we advise removing all the old flooring before decorating. Any gloss paintwork on skirting boards, door frames or doors will need at least 48 hours to dry before any flooring can be fitted in that area.
- Please make sure someone is there to let our fitters in on time or make appropriate arrangements for them to gain access to the property.
- On completion of having your carpet/laminate or vinyl fitted by Allen Carpets please inspect the work and confirm you are happy with the product and service before the fitters leave.
- Our fitters are not licenced to carry or dispose of waste so they will neatly pile any leftover floorcovering for you to either put to use or dispose of yourself.
- The balance owed on all flooring fitted must be paid on the day of fitting along with payment made to the professional fitter.
- Before returning furniture/appliances to the area we recommend you thoroughly hoover your newly laid floorcovering.
Following the above guidelines will ensure the process of having any new flooring fitted goes smoothly.
